2012 saw the culmination of many years of planning when the partners of Halswellhealth Medical Centre purchased a site in the Longhurst sub division to develop a Health facility for the Halswell community. The doctors were joined in the project by the two local pharmacists and dentist and planning stepped up as the population growth in the area post the 2011 earthquake saw unprecedented demand for health services in the suburb.
The planning for the facility involved looking at the current and future needs of the community to ensure the centre will be flexible enough for us to cater for future trends in healthcare. This involved reviewing medical facilities around the country and around the world, working with the Canterbury District Health Board and specialist colleagues.
and high standard INTEGRATED
HEALTH services to the community.
Recent projections have a further 11,500 sections to be developed in the south west area over the next few years.
